Magma Engineering Korea Co., Ltd. held the 15th Magma User Meeting at the Courtyard Marriott Seoul Botanic Park on Thursday, 16th November 2023. Thankfully, many users and industry officials attended MAGMA UGM even though it was a rainy day.
As this year's user meeting was resumed after four years, it was planned to be a richer and more global event with support from MAGMA headquarters and Asia-Pacific. The topic of this UGM was “Eco-friendly automobile parts development and analysis technology, and shipbuilding/construction machinery industry trends and outlook.”
In the welcoming speech, Dr. Marc Schneider who is a CEO of MAGMA GmbH, headquarter in Germany, said that he was very happy to attend the Korean User Meeting first time and that he hoped it would be a valuable time for both attendees and MAGMA.
In the user session, Ohsung Tech presented “Preliminary Strategy Case for LPDC Mold Thermal Deformation”. Second, Hyundai Motor Company presented “Temperature consistency verification for development of deformation prediction analysis model using structural analysis.” And then, HD Hyundai Site Solutions presented about “Casting Analysis Application Cases in Construction Equipment Parts”.
Additionally, Mr. Jan Eilers, General manager of MAGMA Asia Pacific, introduced MAGMA Economics. Attendees were very interested in upcoming new features. MAGMA Economics is a solution tool suitable for the eco-friendly and carbon-neutral era. It is a function that economically quantifies product production costs and resource (casting, subsidiary materials, etc.) consumption data to help users maximize quality and profitability.
During the breaks, including lunch time, there was a demonstration of MAGMAinteract® was held, showing MAGMASOFT® simulation results in a 3D viewer. Attendees were interested in the useful 3D viewer.
The afternoon session continued with the following presentations. “Control shrinkage defects and secure analysis efficiency through optimization techniques” by Pusan Cast Iron, “Prediction of mechanical properties through MAGMA analysis of large casting materials” by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, and Hyundai Sungwoo Casting(Pohang) presented “MAGMASOFT® Core Gas Utilization and Patent Case for Laminated Method Design”, and Korea Maritime and Ocean University presented about “Aluminum Casting Technology Trends for Car Body Lightening and MAGMASOFT® Application Cases.”
Additionally, a general manager of MAGMA China, Dr. Moritz Weidt gave a presentation on “China GIGA Casting Trends and Prospects.” Through this, we had the opportunity to resolve the curiosity of domestic users about casting large-scale car body parts in China. Regarding the future development and development plan of MAGMASOFT® was presented by Dr. Marc Schneider.
Lastly, the forum session was held in a relaxed atmosphere with snacks and beer. There was a presentation about MAGMA's global events and implementation. Domestic users were able to experience various global events through presentations. We had meaningful time together through social gathering.
In 2024, the International MAGMA User Meeting is scheduled to be held in Frankfurt, Germany in October, and there will be an overseas technology exchange seminar in Korea to introduce global analysis cases to Korean users. We hope for a lot of interest and participation from users and people in the field, and Magma Engineering Korea Co., Ltd. will provide events that are helpful to the people in charge.
