On December 5, the 2024 MAGMASOFT® Case Study Seminar was successfully held at the Daegu Mechatronics and Materials Institute. This seminar was held for MAGMASOFT® maintenance customers, and was designed to share analysis and improvement cases in the global casting industry and introduce the latest software functions and usage tips.
In particular, casting analysis cases of global companies that only maintenance customers can access were revealed, drawing great attention from attendees. In addition, the latest version of MAGMASOFT® 6.1 and MAGMA Economics, an innovative function that quantitatively predicts casting costs and carbon emissions, were intensively introduced.
The presentations were divided into major casting fields. In the Cast Iron & Steel field, cases of weight reduction of cast iron parts using MAGMAlink and improvement of hot tear problems in large cast steel products were presented. In the HPDC field, GIGA Casting analysis approaches and quality improvement cases through optimization by plunger section were shared. In the LPDC and wheel fields, the analysis case of connector housing for electric vehicles and the data comparison case of heat-treated cross members were highlighted.
In particular, MAGMA Economics received great attention for its ability to quantify casting costs and CO2 emissions to simultaneously achieve economic efficiency and carbon neutrality. It received a great response as it supports optimal decision-making based on various indicators such as production costs, resource consumption, and carbon emissions, and helps in economic and environmental optimization of the casting process.
The seminar ended with a session introducing new features and improvements in MAGMASOFT® 6.1, and the attendees were able to reaffirm the innovative value of the casting process through the latest technology. This seminar successfully concluded by presenting practical solutions and economic and environmental optimization directions of MAGMASOFT® that suggest the future of the casting industry.
